Who are we? SeniorNet is about helping people in the community who are
50+ years of age to learn computer skills in a way that
is enjoyable and friendly.
SeniorNet Eden-Roskill is
a non-profit, voluntary society, which operates independently
and is community-based. Established in August 2002, we were
the 100th SeniorNet Learning Centre to be established in New Zealand.
We
have facilities equipped with computers that enable
us to teach a wide variety of both PC and MAC courses ranging from a basic introduction
to computers through to unravelling the mysteries of the Internet
and beyond.
Regular meetings and newsletters provide on-going support
and information on our activities and other computer related
issues.
How are we different from other training offerings? Coupled with the age criteria for membership is SeniorNet's
philosophy of "peer to peer training". This helps
us to have a better understanding of our students learning needs
and culminates in us having:
* Lower student to tutor ratio (1 tutor to 3 students)
*
Smaller class numbers (Max 6 students)
* Manuals
are written by older people for older people
*
Class members and tutors are of a similar age
*
Participate as a class not as an individual
*
Course material belongs to you
* Social, non-competitive
environment
* Access to other club activities
and peer support
* All classes are held during
the daytime
Where are we located? Our Learning Centre facilities are located at the
Mt Eden Senior Citizens Club
How can we be contacted? Phone either our Membership Secretary, Hetty on 626 5809,
