Welcome, and thank you for your interest
in SeniorNet Eden-Roskill.
Who are we? SeniorNet is about helping people in the community who are
55 years of age and over to learn computer skills in a way that
is enjoyable and friendly.
SeniorNet Eden-Roskill is
a non-profit, voluntary society, which operates independently
and is community-based. Established in August 2002, we were
the 100th SeniorNet club to be established in New Zealand.
We
have clubroom facilities equipped with computers that enable
us to teach a wide variety of courses ranging from a basic introduction
to computers through to unravelling the mysteries of the Internet
and beyond.
Regular club meetings and newsletters provide on-going support
and information on club activities and other computer related
issues.
How are we different from other training offerings? Coupled with the age criteria for membership is SeniorNet's
philosophy of "peer to peer training". This helps
us to have a better understanding of our students learning needs
and culminates in us having:
* Lower student to tutor ratio (1 tutor to 3 students)
*
Smaller class numbers (Max 6 students)
* Manuals
are written by older people for older people
*
Class members and tutors are of a similar age
*
Participate as a class not as an individual
*
Course material belongs to you
* Social, non-competitive
environment
* Access to other club activities
and peer support
* All classes are held during
the daytime
Where are we located? Our clubroom facilities are located at the
Mt Eden Senior Citizens Club
How can we be contacted? By phoning our Secretary, Noeleen O'Keefe on 846 9250,
by email (see the committee
page under Communications) or use the course
enrolment form.
The clubroom telephone number is
631 7591. If you are running late for your session, or
can't make it please let your tutor know ASAP.
