Composition 9 - Symmetry
It doesn't matter what sort of camera you use, but following a few simple guidelines can generally improve your photos.
In this tip we will talk about "Symmetry".
Humans often look for symmetry in objects and so too in photos.
|
This technique of composition is widely used where the entire image is designed to satisfy, and the subject is obvious without having to be highlighted in any way.
On the other hand, some subjects simply demand this style of composition, and the Taj Mahal is one such subject because the whole area is so symmetrical.

 |
Where your subject clearly shows the horizon, or includes a large area of water, be it a pond, lake or sea, always ensure the horizon is level.
Similarly, if you are looking up at your subject, converging verticals will be accentuated and appear out of balance unless the image is symmetrical.

If you would like to see some examples, type "symmetry photography" into Google Search and click on Images or simply click
here.
This provides a much wider range of images than we could show here.
